Loss

Every day a wave crashes on the shore of this life As it recedes, the tide takes the willing, the proud,  the famous, and the down trodden without prejudice  Sweeping away friends, family, those we love, those we hate, those we'll never know Every day the wave crashes until it is our turn to ride the ride and face the show into the unknown

Still Alive...and kicking - Message in a Bottle

Is anyone out there? Well after a long long hiatus, I have returned. I am going to try to return with regular posting regarding fiction and interests. My last post was about 12 years ago....much has happened to me and the world. Goals change, habits change, life moves on.  It is fascinating and scary a persons digital footprints remain, untouched, from so long ago. Some previous posts stand the test of time while others are cringe worthy.  So this message in a bottle is cast into the digital sea to bob about and see if it ever reaches the shore...

Robert B. Parker..RIP

Author Robert B. Parker died yesterday. It seems as though if you live long enough, all icons seem to fade into dust. Of the living mystery authors, Robert B. Parker was perhaps and Elmore Leonard executed the type of writing styles I aspire to. "We were at the other end of life..." Robert B. Parker

The Death of Erik Ivan James

I knew a man named Jerry Ogg that wrote on the Blogisphere as Erik Ivan James. http://erikivanjames.blogspot.com - he was a great renaissance man. He has a completed novel that he was shopping to publishers but hadn't yet gotten pciked up. The following is something he wrote a couple of years ago and sums up the last several months of his life. He asked if it would ever get better. He asked if he would ever know peace within himself. He asked if he would ever again find dignity. He asked if he could ever again know love. That night, he would destroy the most precious of gifts. He would pinch out the flame on the c

If If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you; If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too; If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies, Or, being hated, don't give way to hating, And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise; If you can dream - and not make dreams your master; If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim; If you can meet with triumph and disaster And treat those two imposters just the same; If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, Or watch the things you gave your life to broken, And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools; If you can make one heap of all your winnings And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss, And lose, and start again at your beginnings And never breath a word about your loss; If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew To serve your turn
